Brent left this world for his heavenly home at 10:10 am on Monday morning of June 8, 2020 following several years of health challenges. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Rita Ann Lasseter Rucks, daughter Carolina Anita Rucks-AlSaedi, daughter Jill Antoinette Rucks-Zaoui and granddaughter Hannah Alexandra Rucks- Zaoui, brothers Gary Frank Rucks (Suzanna), Jonathan Earl Rucks, II (Mary Jane), niece Cari Faith Rucks Arnold (Royce), nephews Clinton Marshall Rucks (Heather) and Jonathan Erick Rucks (Amanda), son-in-law Ali Alsaedi, former sister-in-laws Betty Louise Williams, Rucks, Hazellief (David), Phyllis Joy Whitehurst, Rucks, Tuscany (Robert). Brent was proceeded in death by his parents Jonathan Earl Rucks, I and Mary Emily "Merry" Brown Rucks, his father and mother-in-law Noma Cauley Lasseter and Alice Gertrude Weeks Lasseter, his nephew Gary Wade Rucks, son-in-law Abdellah Lalouani Zaoui. Brent was born in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida and grew up in Dania. His family lived for a time in Atlanta, Fulton County, in the Peachtree Park neighborhood of Buckhead. Both of his brothers were born in Atlanta during this time. The family returned to Dania, Florida and by high school Brent attended Florida Military School in Deland, Volusia, Florida. Brent graduated in 1959 and attended Florida State University. While at FSU he and Rita eloped to Thomasville, Thomas, Georgia and were married in the home of a Methodist preacher on May 13, 1960. Brent was under age to marry without parental consent so he forged his father's signature! Rita and Brent returned to Okeechobee, Florida to Margate Dairy owned by his father where he became Dairy Foreman. Brent also worked for Domer's Machine Shop as a machinist and drilling wells. In the 1960's Brent established the first gun shop in Okeechobee, Rucks's Guns and Repairs retiring his business several years prior to his death. Brent lived to hunt deer but really just to get away to camp in the woods. He spent many happy times with his Uncle Lourcey Bryan's Hunting Camp in Deland, Florida with the whole hunting camp crew. Brent had the opportunity to hunt big game Out West with family numerous times. . He was an avid reader and loved learning new things, going new places, trying new foods. He was a history buff and could never pass by any historic markers or a museum. Brent was a phenomenal cook, best cornbread ever. Brent was a member of the Masons. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and other firearm associations. Brent was a Methodist and had a strong faith that he would be reunited with his loved ones after this life. His last words in the weeks and days before his death were, "I love you". He died deep asleep at home with his family as he wanted it to be. Good bye Brent. We will all miss you.

Brent's cremains are enclosed in an urn inside the casket of his wife of 60 years, Rita Ann. Their grave is off 2nd Lane of Evergreen near the graves of his mother and nephew.
