John Paul Albers, Sr. passed away at home on November 20, 2019. John was the son of the late William M. Albers, Jr. and his wife, Janet Fenner.
John was born near Cincinnati, Ohio moving to Florida as a young child. He attended the Florida Highway Patrol Academy and proudly served as a State Trooper for many years. He also served as a police officer the City of Hollywood and a Deputy for Osceola County. He retired from the Treasurer's Office where he investigated insurance fraud and taught at the Police Academy of Osceola County for many years, mentoring and supporting many young officers. He served his community as a law enforcement officer for 32 years. John was active in Boy Scouts serving in several areas. He earned the prestigious Silver Beaver award and helped many young men earn their Eagle Award. John was a member of the Civil Air Patrol as a young man and served as a Captain and Squadron Commander for the Osceola Cadet Squadron as an adult. John had several cadets accepted to Military Academies including the Air Force and Naval Academies. John was a member of the Saint Cloud Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

John is survived by his wife, Becky, His daughter Amy Albers Hillis and husband Shawn of Orlando, His son John (Jay) Albers, Jr and wife Amber of Winter Haven. His step children, Tricia Dorminey and husband Tom of Orlando, Robert and Brenna Young, both of Orlando, and five grandchildren, Abigail, Madeline, and Annie Hillis and Asher and Talia Dorminey, all of Orlando. John was a big, gentle, caring man with a great love for his family and friends, his community, country, and church. He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the main clubhouse at Gulfstream Harbor located at 4505 Old Goldenrod Road Orlando, Fl. 32822 on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00. This will be a casual celebration. We would like to hear your Big John stories. Please come and share.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Council. This is an IRS- recognized 501 C 3 nonprofit charitable organization. Their primary mission is to aid Florida Highway Troopers and members of their families in times of crises.
