Finis was the youngest of 13 children, which how he got his name which is 'end' in French.
He met his wife, Helen "Christine" Cruse, when she went with a friend to visit him when he was in the hospital after his brother shot him mistaken him for a red squirrel, because Finis had red hair, therefore, also had the nickname "Red".
Finis & Christine moved to Valparaiso about 1942/3 for work. They have four children; Finis "LEE", Jr., Carolyn "Sue" Makovsky, Dale Carlin & Jeffery Allen.
Finis and his brother, Walter, helped found the "Valparaiso Chruch of Christ" congregation back in the 40's, which is now located there on Sturdy Road, across from the Graceland cemetery.(Church building was sold abt 2008 & is now 'Faith")
