Professional Football Player. For five seasons (1960 to 1964), he played at the tackle position in the American Football League with the New York Titans, San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and Houston Oilers. Born John Stephen Klotz, he attended Pennsylvania College Military Prep where he excelled in football, baseball, basketball and track and field, before playing collegiate football at Widener University. While at Widener, he helped the Pride achieve a 7-0 undefeated season and distinguished himself as an All-American. Selected by the Los Angeles Rams during the 18th round of the 1956 NFL Draft, his professional football career was delayed while he served with the United States Marine Corps. Following his return home, he signed with the New York Titans of the newly formed American Football League and had the distinction of being on the roster during their inaugural season. He went on to total 55 career regular season AFL games. After retiring as a player, he served as a scout with the New England Patriots. He was inducted into the Widener University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016.
