Ezra was the son of Lemuel Cone and Susannah Norton Cone
Around 1810 came from Vermont with ox-teams, three wagons with two yoke of oxen to each wagon, and settled on the "Holland Purchase", in what is now Orleans Co., NY. In Summer of 1818 he started with his family of wife and one child for Wayne Co., OH. Here he remained for two years. The Western Fever still had hold of him, and induced him in 1820 to move to Sangamon Co., IL, the then outpost of civilization where he died
