She was born Lady Dorothy Violet Bligh, the daughter of Ivo Francis Walter Bligh, 8th Earl of Darnley and his wife Florence Rose nee Morphy. Her father was a cricketer of some repute who had led an English team to Australia in 1883 to recover the Ashes. It was there he met her mother who later became one of the first women to be created a Dame of the British Empire.

On 26th February 1916 she married Daniel Spencer Peploe at Cobham near Gravesend in Kent. They had two children, Jane and Anthony.

Between 1907 and 1917 the Peploe family rented Underriver House from the Davisons who owned it. However, the Davisons were forced to sell up in 1917. In 1922 Daniel and his wife were living at Blackhall, Sevenoaks before moving, later in the decade to Little Garnstone Manor, Seal. In 1939 they were living at Earylwood Chase Ascot.

They later moved to Charlcroft Farm, Bruton, Somerset. Daniel died in Verrington Hospital, Wincanton, Somerset. Dorothy eventually moved back to Sevenoaks where she died in 1976
