DUMAS - John Owen, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Aiken, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.

Mr. Owen was born in Wheeler and had lived in Dumas since 1947. He was a retired building inspector and health inspector for the city of Dumas. He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II in North Africa and the South Pacific. He was a Baptist.

He married Lula Prince in 1949 in Amarillo.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Owen in 1945 and Jo Beth Holder in 1994.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Billie Ruth Neuendorff of Odessa and Patsy Juanita Watson of Colleyville; two sons, Kenneth Elmer Land of Dumas and John Carl Owen of Flora, Ill.; two sisters, Clara Kayes of Electra and Nina Wester of Haskell; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity or Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second, Dumas, Texas 79029. The family will be at 610 Second Place, Dumas, Texas.
