Austrian royalty. Archduke Rudolf of Austria was the sixth child and youngest son of Emperor Charles I of Austria and his wife, Zita of Bourbon-Parma. During World War II he served in the Austrian resistance to the Nazi regime, but he was expelled from Austria after the war had ended as a member of the formerly reigning imperial family. Following the war, he worked in New York as a Wall Street executive and bank director. The Archduke was married on 22 Jun 1953 in Tuxedo Park, New York to Countess Xenia Sergeivna Czernichev-Besobrasova, the daughter of Count Sergei Aleksandrovich Czernyshev-Besobrasov and his wife, Countess Elizabeta Dmitrievna Sheremeteva, with whom he had four children. She was killed in a car crash on 20 Sep 1968. Following her death, he was remarried on 15 Oct 1971 in Ellingen, Bavaria to Princess Anna Gabriele von Wrede, with whom he had one daughter.
