Elizabeth G. Batten, 104, of Wilson, passed away Saturday. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery, 400 College St., Wilson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in Maplewood.
Elizabeth was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, antiquing and spending time with her family and friends.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Candace Batten Holliday; grandchildren, Bridgett W. Bonner and husband, Kevin, David B. Wilder and girlfriend, Shannon, and Joseph R. Wilder and wife, Lisa; 13 great-grandchildren, Jay, Ethan, Hunter, Matthew, Ashton, Krissah-Lee, Madelaine, Nathan, Justin, Damien, Ava, Courtney and Emma-Grace; and five great-great-grandchildren, Ryan, Addisyn, Tinsley, Braxton and Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Elmon Batten; great-granddaughter, Ashlie E. Ormond; parents, Gattis and Willie Boykin Gower; and her siblings, Howard E. Gower, D. Hubert Gower and Dorothy G. Underwood.
