God delivered the soon to be legend of Frank Abreu Jr. to his parents, Rosa Maria Perez and Francisco Abreu Sr., in the town of Isabela, Puerto Rico the summer of 1953. Like most legends, facts about their beginning can be unclear. Frank's birthday was July 10, 1953, although he always told his family God brought him down to earth June 21, 1953. As his family and friends reflect on his life, it is clear Frank lived and loved more than any one man can in a lifetime….So maybe God knew he would need a head start. To say Frank was a people person would be the biggest understatement of the century. From this day forward if Frank's name is ever brought up in conversation nobody can ever say, “Yeah, I think I knew him.” If you met Frank…you would know it! His ability to strike up a meaningful conversation with anyone, including complete strangers, and the lasting effect he had on people was like nothing his family has ever seen before. Frank was a firm believer of the glass being half full, he was an optimist, he always saw from other people’s point of views. Most importantly, Frank would do anything in his power to spread the love and make people smile, everyone from a stranger in a grocery store to his loving wife. This is what made Frank the legend he will be remembered as for years to come. Frank had many interests from his love of fishing, to hiking, camping and traveling. As much as he enjoyed these interest (especially fishing!) There is no memory of Frank taking off and doing any of these alone. No memory of him saying, “I will be back I’m going fishing." As we all reflected it became more and more clear his real interest, or his only true love were his friends and family.

The legend of Frank Abreu Jr will be remembered by many of us, all by different names. “Uncle Jr" will live long in the hearts of his nieces and nephews who he went above and beyond the responsibilities of any uncle. Being the strong loving mentor who helped shape lives with advice, love and sharing his own experiences. Often times feeling more like a second father. Papa Frank or Frankie was a loving goofy grandfather with never ending old man jokes that would make the kids laugh, more often at him and not his jokes… but he didn’t care! They brought out the child in him and he would do anything to make them smile and laugh. “Jr" was the strong supporting brother who from a young age stood up and did whatever had to be done for his family. He was the magnet that always kept his family together and the shield that always kept them safe. The best brother God could have given will never be forgotten. Dad...There are only three men in the world who will be lucky enough to say this legend is their dad. Survived by his three sons Frank will always be remembered as a father who lead my example. He taught life lessons using real life examples based on his own life experiences. He showed us how to put family first and treat others. He showed us how to enjoy life and have fun, make the most of life no matter what challenges life throws at you. Unmatchable lessons you cannot learn anywhere else, the mentoring and love Dad showed his boys turned them into the men they are today. Those lessons will be passed down to generations to come. There is only one person in the world who ever will remember Frank by “Babe”. Frank Abreu's heart and soul will continue to run through the most loving wife God could have delivered to Frank. Maria Abreu is Frank’s gift from God, a gift he shared with his boys. The second God matched these two loving hearts together it brought out the best Frank this world could have ever seen. Maria describes Frank as her “everything”. “He was such a selfless man. He did anything to make me happy. He took care of me and he always sacrificed for me. The way he took care of my father nothing meant more to me.” Maria and Frank’s hearts will always be one.

Francisco Abreu Jr will be remembered by all, the name may be different but the spirit remains the same. The Abreu family invite all who were touched by Frank in his life to Palms West Funeral Home Royal Palm beach, FL Saturday 9/28 from 2:00-4:00pm to reminisce, grieve, and support each other. Thank you all for your love and support.
