Died Jan. 12, 1893.
For over 30 years a mariner,
whaling in every ocean and many
seas, and going as far north as
any other navigator had been.
He was the first American to
whale in the Ochotsk Sea and
twice sailed around the world.
Faithful, Just, Generous.
An honest man is the noblest work of God.
