Merle R. "Buzz" Arneson passed away Nov. 4. 2016 in Ontario Ca. He and his wife Wanda have lived in Upland, Ca. since 1964.

Merle was born in Sioux Falls, S.D. and moved to Calif. in 1953 with his family. In 1954 he married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Hoover. He began his career with the Upland Police Department as a Patrolman in 1964. During his career he held the ranks of Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and retired as a Captain in 1989.

Merle is survived by his wife Wanda, daughter Pamela DiVincenzo (John) of Alta Loma, Ca., son Dale Arneson (Martha) of Spokane, Wa., five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time at his cabin in Wrightwood.

A private family service will be held later this month. In lieu of flowers donations are welcomed to the Foundation for Upland Police Officer Assistance.
