William and his wife moved to Dallas County, Texas, from Polk County, Missouri, in 1866 and settled near the old White Rock Creek. He operated the White Rock Mill for many years. On his death certificate his occupation was listed as farmer.
William had been a member of the Baptist Church since his youth and was a member of the board of directors of the Buckner Orphans Home for 30 years. He died at his home east of Buckner Orphans Home. He was survived by his wife, Sarah, and six children.
