Fern E. Frase, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 26, 2003.

She was born on April 25, 1928, in Hillsdale, Pa., but lived in the Akron area most of her life. Fern faithfully at tended Barber ton Wesleyan Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. She had worked for the Board of Elections in Copley, and especially enjoyed knitting, quilting, and other handwork, and partici pated in a sewing club for many years.

Preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Anna Simpson; sister, Hazel; and first husband, Allen Messner, she is survived by her husband, Harold; her children, Gerald (Jerri) Messner, Frederick (Rhonda) Messner, Bonnie (David) Swarts, and Harold's children, Wesley (Marlea) Frase, Randall Frase, and Charles Frase, Lola (Ric) Vierheller, Darla Sturgeon, and Sheryl (Greg) Bradford; grandchildren, Jamie, Bradley, Christopher, Robert, Angela, Stephanie, Anthony, Samuel, April, Amber, Christopher, Stacie, Tonia, Nickolas, Berry, Joanna, Michele, Jeffery, Katie, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Logan, Allen, Jenna, Ian, Hailee, Lafayette, Moni que, Jesse, Travis, Savanna, Arron, and Chelsie; brother, Forrest (Zola) Simpson; sisters, Winifred (Roy) Straub and Ruth Hartley.

Fern was a warm, caring, dedicated, and loving woman who cherished her family and loved life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she will live in our hearts forever.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd., NOR TON, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at Barberton Wesleyan Methodist Church, with funeral services fol lowing at 11 a.m., Pastor Dennis McCoy officiating.
