Sara Schiendel Kornmehl Schmerling, was the first child of Elias Kornmehl and Esther (Doba) Schmerling. She was named after her maternal grandmother.
She was born either on 16 May or 27 July, 1872 in Tarnow, Galicia (Poland).

(Her 'pet' name, within the family was Shprintz, meaning Hope in Yiddish, This name was on one of her son's (Joseph Hirsch Beder) Yad Vashem records, under 'mother's name', father's name was Simcha).

Sara married Simche Isaac (later Siegmund) Beder (born in Nowt Sacz, Poland, 29th January 1870). They married in Tarnow in 1897, and had 9 children:

Jochwet (Jeannette) Beder Bloemendal, 30 Jan 1898, Tarnow (married to Abraham Bloemendal, with 2 children; Eduard and Berta. They were all killed in the Shoah)
Max Beder, 28 Dec 1898, Tarnow - emigrated to Palestine / Israel
Mina Beder, 19 June 1900, Tarnow – She remained in Tarnow a few years after her family left for the Netherlands. She then joined her family in the Hague, the Netherlands and moved with them to Dusseldorf, Germany in 1927. In 1933, when Hitler came to power in Germany and dreadful discriminatory anti Jewish laws came into being, she left and moved to Palestine / Israel. She married and became Mina Kaner.
Jozef Henryk Beder, 15 Oct 1901, Tarnow - killed in the Shoah. His wife, Berta also (they had lived in Antwerp and Dusseldorf). A son of theirs, Simi (then named: Siegfried) (an orphan, discovered after the war) survived, was adopted by Joseph's sister, Mina and he emigrated to Israel. He became: Shimon Kaner (and became a lawyer; married with 2 children).
Elly S - likely, and cleverly named after Sabine's father, Elias (Elie-s). She changed her name to Elsa, later. Elsa Beder Obstfeld, Dec 1902 (Gorlice) survived (was in hiding in the Netherlands with her daughter, Edith; and others). She remarried and became Elsa Offer.
Jakob ('Jack') Beder, 5 May 1905, Nowy Sacz survived (in hiding; the Netherlands, see details below)
Golda Lea Beder Loebl ('Leni'), 11 July, 1908 survived. her son, Simi (Shimon) also survived and moved to Israel. They were honoured at Yad Vashem. (Golda) Lea(h) was likely named after Sara (Sabine)'s sister, Lea (Leah) who sadly died young, in 1905, Tarnow.
Regina (Rosa) Beder Santcroos, 4 Jan 1912 - She survived the shoah, together with her husband, David Santcroos; they were in hiding in the same house as her sisters: Elie/Elsa and Leah/Leni. They remained in the Netherlands after the war.
Celine (Cilly) Beder Ringer, 1913, Tarnow - was married to Max Ringer. She gave birth to a baby daughter, Irene, whilst incarcerated in a Dutch transit camp, Westerbok. All were 3 gassed at Sobibor.

The family had moved from Tarnow to the Hague, in the Netherlands in 1913. Most of them moved to Dusseldorf from the Netherlands - until the Second World War.

Second world war. Sara/Sabine Beder managed to escape, and was shown on a record as living in Tel Aviv in 1945. She died in 1948 (9th February).
