Maryann T. (nee Cangemi) Carr, 26, of 462 Liberty Street, Little Ferry, tragically passed away on Thursday, December 15, 1977 at around 4 AM.
Maryann was born in Brooklyn, lived in Fort Lee and then in Englewood before moving to the Ledgewood Terrace Condos in Little Ferry around April 1976. She grew up in Englewood Cliffs, attended Tenafly High School and graduated in 1969 from Saint Cecilia High School in Englewood.
Before she married her second husband, Maryann married her first husband in 1973, and then divorced him after learning that he was a homosexual. Maryann was a medical technician and radiologist for Dr. Arthur Grossman's office in Englewood.
She was planning to spend the night with her mother-in-law in Hackensack because Maryann's husband was in upstate New York looking for a job. Richard Cottingham abducted her, handcuffed and tied Maryann, suffocating her to death with her necklace subsequently dumping her body behind the Quality Court Motel

Visitation was offered on Monday, December 19, 1977, from 7-10 PM and Tuesday, December 20, 1977, from 2-5 and 7-10 PM at the Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Boulevard, Union City, NJ. The funeral was arranged in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 1973 at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass conducted at 11 AM in Saint Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, 55 West Demarest Ave, Englewood, NJ. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
