Captain Jay Ross Kistler, Jr. (Ret.) passed on October 14, 2019 in Fairfax, VA with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born in Charlotte, NC and preceded in death by his parents, Jay Ross Kistler, Sr. and Ernestine Crane Kistler. A graduate of West Mecklenburg High School class of 1966 and Auburn Alumni in 1970.

After 28 years of active duty in the United States Navy he continued to serve for an additional 19 years in the Senior Executive Service at the Office of the Secretary of Defense until retirement. He is survived by his wife, Sheila and their three children: Brooke Kistler, Kerri Kistler Murphy, and Jay Ross Kistler III and their spouses. He is survived by his sister, Ann Kistler Teague and her son Michael Teague and his wife. He was immeasurably proud of his nine grandchildren and great grandson.

Through years of travel his friends and colleagues are scattered throughout the world. Instead of a formal service, he wished for everyone to remember him from their memories. Please feel free to share your memories and photos. Always looking to advance scientific discovery he chose to donate his body to research. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Heart Association or Heart Failure Society of America.
