Russell Edward Vaughan, 81, of the 1000 block of Clay St., was called home to be with the Lord July 13, 2007. Mr. Vaughan was a Navy veteran. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Doris Vaughan Elliott and a son, Michael C. Vaughan. Also left to cherish his memory are a sister, Beatrice Vaughan; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Viewing will be held Tuesday from noon until 5 p.m. in J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Cecil Wicker officiating. Burial will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Heartland Hospice Care and Dr. Bruce Britton and staff from Portsmouth Family Medicine.
