Raymond P. Anderson, age 81 of New Richmond, WI, died Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Deerfield Gables Care Center in New Richmond. Ray was born the son of Raymond E. and Pearl (Ness) Anderson on March 5, 1938 in the town Little Falls, Polk County, Wisconsin. He grew up in Deer Park, WI and graduated from New Richmond High School with the class of 1956. Ray attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls on a baseball scholarship. On April 6, 1957, Ray was married to Myrna C. Bentley at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Ray worked in construction, working on the construction of Holy Family Hospital (now Westfields). He then went to work traveling for Goodyear Tire Company, changing tires on earth movers doing road construction. Ray was a part owner of Nobles Tire Service for many years. He later worked for Countryside Plumbing and Heating and drove school bus for the New Richmond School District. Ray was a member of the New Richmond Rotary Club and St. Thomas and St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Richmond. He enjoyed sports, especially coaching his grandsons and following their activities. He liked to deer hunt, fish and be outdoors. Ray was kind, giving man who didn’t complain. He made friends easily and kept them for life. He is preceded in death by his son, Craig Anderson; grandson, Mitchell Blackman; parents, Raymond E. and Pearl Anderson; brother, Charles Anderson; and sister, Audrey DeTar. Ray is survived by his wife, Myrna Anderson; daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Jarman and Connie Nelson; grandsons, Derek (Lauren) Welter, Grant (Jennifer) Nelson, and Hayden (Katherine) Nelson; sister-in-law, Phyllis Anderson; brother-in-law, Larry DeTar; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. We would like to thank the staff at the Deerfield and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care provided for Ray. A funeral service was held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 6 pm at the Deerfield Gables Chapel 1127 W 8th Street New Richmond, WI. Visitation was also on Friday from 4-6 pm at the Deerfield. Interment was Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:30 am at Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
