Son of Jonathan Wiley Walker and Lucy Alice Harrison, he was born in Talmo, Jackson County, GA. He graduated from Chamblee High School in Chamblee, DeKalb County, GA, in 1926, where he played on the basketball and baseball teams. He attended University of Georgia Extension School and Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. He was first married to Katie Irene Blanton on March 24, 1929, in Decatur, GA, later divorced on February 10, 1949. He retired from U.S. Gypsum Company in 1972. At the time of his death, he was connected with FRM, Inc. He was a member of the Homebuilders of Mobile, Lake Forest Country Club, Eastern Shore Art Association, Friends of the Library of Fairhope and Fairhope Christian Church. Funeral held 7/13/1981 with The Rev. Alan Smith officiating. He was survived by his second wife, Patricia Earlyne "Patsy" Wadsworth Walker; his daughter, Rita Irene Walker Wilkes and her husband, Shelburn Elliott Manning Wilkes; his granddaughter, Meghan Jane Wilkes. He was also survived by one sister, three brothers and an extended family of relatives and friends.
