MR. WILLIE DUARD PETTY, SR. of Sanford, Florida passed away at his home on September 9, 2005. He was 89 years old. He lived in the Tri-County area until 1949 when he moved to Sanford, Florida. He was a security guard in the citrus industry and was also a packing house manager in Sanford for Southwood Fruit Company. Mr. Petty was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by one son Willie D. "Bill" Petty, Jr. of Daytona Beach; three daughters, Carole Dawes of Salem, Ohio, Judy Yates of Sanford, and Diane Jones of Orlando; one sister Pearl Gwynn of Ocala; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Dora Futch Petty; sons Tharon Petty and infant children, and Aaron and his daughter Eileen.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 10am at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Royce Hanshew officiating. Burial followed at the Cross City Cemetery. A visitation was held Friday evening, September 16, 2005.
