Sharon Goodwin Adams, age 55, born June 18, 1964, in Columbia, SC, to Gilbert Goodwin and Wilma Keisler Goodwin of Chapin, SC left this world to be in a place that surpasses all understanding to join her Heavenly Father. She was surrounded with family by her side on Friday, September 6, 2019, at MUSC in Charleston, SC, where she had undergone a bone marrow transplant for a very rare blood cancer, Polycythemia Vera.
Sharon was the granddaughter of the late Ralph and Lessie Keisler, and the late Castella and Naomi Goodwin. She was raised in Chapin, and graduated from Chapin High School in 1982. After attending Columbia College she finished her education at The Medical University of South Carolina. Upon graduation in 1986 with a Bachelor in Science in Physical Therapy, she spent her beginning years at Easterseals South Carolina and Columbia Rehabilitation Clinic. She later pursued private practice in school districts and homes throughout South Carolina for another 25 years. Her most cherished work was in her early years with special needs kids in a horseback program called Wings. While she was in Charleston, SC she met, and later married Brock Adams of Tampa, FL in 1989. They both enjoyed time homeschooling their children and traveling in order to be a large part of their children's lives. Sharon and Brock were long time members of Gateway Baptist Church and participated in various ministries together. 4
Surviving in addition to her husband, Brock, include her three children, Brock Adams Jr., Jared Grayson Adams, and Carson Fletcher Adams. Survivors also include her mother, Wilma Goodwin of Chapin, SC; and siblings, Glenn Goodwin of Chapin, SC and Kathy Hebert of Fort Mill, SC; nieces and nephews. Her father, Gilbert Goodwin predeceased her.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held Thursday, September 12 at 4:00pm at Chapin Baptist Church, Chapin, SC, with burial to follow in Dutch Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Ballentine, SC.
