Daughter of George Horne and Hannah "Ann" Maria Barnes (1860-1884).
Florence's mother died after the birth of her second child Albert, who also died soon after.
Her father then married Louisa Emerton who died with the birth of their son, James G.Horne (b. 1-22-1886,d. 1942).
Florence's father remarried again to Martha Bertha Taylor. They went on to have 8+ more children.
In her young life, Florence endured the death of her mother and newborn baby brother when she was just 3, the death of her step mother Louisa (Emerton)when she was only 5, and getting another new stepmother, Bertha, when she was just 6.

In 1900 in Trafalgar Canada, at the age of 20, Florence married George Emerton, who was her stepmother Louisa's little brother, her half-brother James' uncle.

Both Florence and George Emerton were born in Canada. First George came to Minnesota, and when they married they settled permanently in Two Harbors where they raised their family, at 613 7th ave.
