Charles (Eddie) Cates, 80 well known Pleasant Township farmer and truck operator died at 1 p.m. in the Marion General Hospital where he had been a patient one day.

Mr. Cates was born in Howard County but lived in Pleasant Township (Grant Co) for 50 years. He was a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church and Grant County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include seven sons, Clarence, Swayzee, Russell, Charles, Lester and Jesse, Rte. 4 Marion, Robert, Muncie, Arthur, Sweetser; three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Velma) Wolfe, Rte. 2 Marion, Mrs. Austin(Waneta) Collins Rte. 1 Jonesboro, and Mrs. Edgar (Mary) Cook, Rt. 4 Marion; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Diggs Funeral Home, 504 W.Third St. with the Rev.Leighn Felheim officiating. Burial will be in the Converse Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m.
