William Tonsaker

TONSAKER, William Dearden 1948 - 2010 Bill lived life to the fullest with a vibrant, youthful energy and sharp sense of humour. He was charming, funny, generous, loving and had a personality that was larger than life. Born in New Westminster, August 4, 1948, he was raised and resided most of his life in North Delta. He was a natural athlete and played basketball for the North Delta Huskies. He later played baseball in the pub league, and loved his golf, fishing and boating. All knew his passion for his beloved Canucks. He was an accomplished guitarist and singer who enjoyed making music with his friends. His CD ''Five Bucks a Lick'' serves as his musical legacy. Bill followed the tradition of his parents, William Arthur and Irene, as a proud family man. He will be remembered tenderly with love by his wife Marilyn, son Paul(Susan), daughter Shauna, sister Lyn (Pedro), twin sister Wendy, brother Bob (Robin), sister Betty (Jim), and brother Don (Rose), his grandchildren Markus, Hannah and Nolan, Uncle Ken and Aunt Ruby, many nieces and nephews, cousins and his many dear friends. Bill's work life was far-reaching and touched many. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Conair Aviation during the 70's, in construction as an excavator operator, trucker and contractor during the 80's, and finally to a role he relished as a heavy equipment instructor at OTS, where he demanded of his students no less than the best they could be. Bill was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March and spent his last weeks at Peach Arch Hospice until his death September 24, 2010 at the age of 62. A big thanks to all those who formed a huge circle of love and comfort around us during our journey: family, close and extended, friends, neighbours, workmates, the vast network of our doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BC Cancer Foundation, Peace Arch Hospice or Canuck Place.
