Robbinsville - Aquilla L. Phillips, 55, of Robbinsville, went home to meet his heavenly Father Saturday, July 30, 2005, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

A native of Graham County, he was the son of Ethel Adams Phillips and the late Ray E. Phillips of Robbinsville.

Throughout his life, he has accomplished many great things. Although his success didn't bring great wealth or fame, his riches were his family; his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his brother and sisters, his nieces and nephews and his friends. In that aspect, his success is immeasurable.

During his sickness, his faith never wavered. He knew he would win, either here or with his greatest triumph of reaching his heavenly home. He will be missed greatly, but will always be remembered for his smile.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Karen Buchanan Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, David and Missy Phillips of Columbia, Tenn.; and son, Rodney Phillips and fiancee, Erin Landers, of Fort Myers, Fla.; and step daughter, Jill Colvin and her husband, Gavin, of Robbinsville; sisters, Christine McGuire, Barbara McClung, Melba Millsaps and Roma Brooks, all of Robbinsville and Virginia "Cook" Banks of Toccoa, Ga.; and brother, D. R. Phillips of Robbinsville. He has two grandchildren, Cortland and Raeann Phillips, whom he loved greatly. He also leaves behind his faithful friend, his beloved dog, Buck.

The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at Lone Oak Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Revs. Tommy Hooper and Scott Roper will officiate. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, prior to the service.
