Professional Race Car Driver. He is recognized as a 10-time veteran of the Indianapolis 500, who won the 1950 Classic. He also recorded a runner-up finish in 1949, a 4th place finish in 1956 and a 10th in 1952. Handsome and articulate, Parsons was a popular speaker and racing ambassador who also served as the west coast supervisor for the United States Auto Club (USAC) and a member of the Champion Spark Plub Highway Safety Team speakers' bureau. His son Johnny "JP" and grandsons "JPIII" and Jimmy also became race car drivers.
