Mary R. Williams, 85, of Nevada and formerly of Ames, died Monday, April 30, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.
Mary R. Williams was born May 6, 1921, in Peterson, to Peter and Anna (Zimmerman) Heick. She attended Peterson schools through the eighth grade and then helped raise her siblings on the farm. She married Floyd R. Williams in October 1945.
She worked at Collegiate Manufacturing in the 1960s. Then she worked at various restaurants in Ames and retired from Iowa State University Food Services. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and making crafts
She is survived by two sons, Russell Williams, of McCallsburg, and Dennis (Becky) Williams, of Nevada; three daughters, Alice Maland, of Phoenix, Ore., Marcia (Ron) Stewart, of Nevada, and Christine (Bill) Oartwieg, of Newton; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray (Mary) Heick, of Davis City, and Chuck (Lois) Heick, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.; three sisters, Dott (Don) Johnson, of Madrid, Jennie (Don) Markow, of Minneapolis, and Lucille Curtis, of Fort Smith, Ark; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Donnie Heick; and two sisters, Rosie Moyer and Jane Kindig.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday, May 3, at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
