She was a victim of the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake; at the time of the disaster, she had registered herself as a guest at the Yokohama Grand Hotel (present-day Hotel New Grand), & was in the Grand Lobby when the earthquake occurred & the building collapsed. Two days prior to her passing, she had made it to her destination via a Pacific Mail steam liner that had sailed from San Francisco, CA.

She was added to the "Reports of Deaths of American Citizens Abroad" listing on October 23rd of that same year.
