Michael R. "Mike" Booth, 47, of the 5100 block of Charlotte St., passed away May 3, 2007, in Portsmouth. He was born April 14, 1960, in Norfolk where he attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Granby High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after nine years of service. He was employed at Wal-Mart where he worked in maintenance. Mike attended various churches in the area. He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Michael D. Booth, Jackie Booth and Jamel Booth; his mother, Doris Booth; his father, Ralph Booth; his stepfather, Melvin Bass; one sister, Jacqueline Williams (Charles); four stepsisters, Karen Wiggins, Beverly Wiggins, Stacy Bass and Cheryl Harris (Michael); four stepbrothers, the Rev. Mark Bass (Patsy), Michael Bass (Audrey), Alan Bass (Alma) and Christopher Bass (Shenita); one niece, Kimberly Williams; one nephew, Tyrell Williams; a grandmother, Catherine Hobson; one granddaughter, Za'Maria J. Booth; two aunts, Loyce Jones (Samuel) and Rosa Brown; four uncles, Brisco Gibbs, Willie Barnes, Joseph Booth (Margaret) and Garner Hobson; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Pastor Gregory Norris will officiate. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Family and friends will assemble at 6215 Newport Ave., one hour prior to service for procession to the chapel.
