Linda Freeman Armour, 69, long-time resident of Lake Forest, IL, died of cancer at home on May 11, 2009.
Linda was born in Chicago on April 27, 1940, and raised in Wayne, IL. Wife of Vernon Armour, Linda is also survived by her mother, FrancesFreeman of Wayne, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Meghan Strubel of Oak Park, IL, and grandchildren Claire andBenjamin Strubel; son Craig Strubel ofKenosha, WI; sister Clara Farah (John) ofAlto, NM; and stepchildren Linda A. Kelly (George), Cynthia A. Landreth (Colt), V.Kelley Armour (Miah), Gordon F. Armour (Anne), Mary Taylor Moulton (Allan),Christopher Taylor (Elizabeth) and William C. Taylor (Phyllis). Linda is also survived by many nephews, nieces and step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gaylord A. Freeman; sister, Nancy Freeman Ellett; and her husband of 18 years William C. Taylor.
Linda attended The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, and was one of the first women graduates of Williams College.
Linda was a member and former president of the Lake Forest Garden Club and member of the Boca Grande Garden Club.
She was also active as a Lake Forest Historic Preservation commissioner, was the first woman elected to the Board of Directors of Lake Forest Hospital, and is a former member of the Woman's Board of Children's Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20 at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 East Westminster Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045.
Interment private.
