John worked for many years in the manufacturing industry, as a teacher in adult vocational education, and was an alumnus of the University of Louisville School of Business. He had many interests and enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including ham radio, photography, music, calligraphy, genealogy, wood and metal working, and travel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judy; children: Dr. Janet Forbes (Phil) and Dr. Susan Janocik (Michael); 4 grandchildren: Ben (Kate), Tyler, Gloria, and Victoria; and a great-grandson (John) due in August; siblings: Jane Smith (Bob), Ethel White (George), Suzanne Schott, and Richard Pitcock (Donna); and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019, from 2 pm – 8 pm at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky. A memorial service will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery Monday, July 8, 2019 at 11 am. Family and friends can meet at the Broadway Gate.
