Carl Hermann Schell died on June 6, 2019 in Locarno, Ticino, Switzerland. He was born on November 14, 1927 in Wolfsberg, Carinthia, Austria.


Carl was a Swiss actor, stage artist, director, producer and writer known for The Blue Max (1966), No Man's Land (1962), Tunnel 28 (1962), I Spy (1967), Bei Vollmond Murder (1961), Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory (1963), the TV series "Butler Parker" (1972), and Garrison's Gorillas (1967).


Carl's father, Hermann Ferdinand Schell, was a Swiss playwright, poet, novelist, and pharmacy owner. His mother, Margarethe Noé von Nordberg Schell, was an actress who ran an acting school. In 1938 his family fled Vienna, Austria after the Anschluss, when Austria was annexed by Nazi Germany, and they resettled in Zurich, Switzerland.


He was married twice, first to Candida Robert (19.. until 19..), and then to Stella Mooney since May 1970. They have two children.


He was predeceased by his parents; and his three siblings, actress Maria Schell, actor Maximilian Schell and actress Immaculata "Immy" Schell Kohut.
