Mary J. Byrne, age 83, of Janesville, died June 22, 2007, at home. She was born on May 6, 1924, in Baldwin, WI, the daughter of Edward and Jessie (Heebink) Somsen. Mary graduated from Baldwin High School in 1942, and State Teachers College of River Falls in 1946. She married Eugene Byrne on August 27, 1952, in Lake Mills, WI. Mary was a teacher at Adams, Roosevelt and Jefferson Elementary Schools in Janesville, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the Over 50 Club and various retired teachers and educational associations. Mary is survived by her husband, Eugene Byrne; 2 children; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William "Billy" in 1962; and a brother, Paul Somsen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Fr. Randy Timmerman officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
