HATTIE MAE ADAMS (BRANCH) JACK passed away August 22, 2009. She was born April 15, 1927 in Stafford, Texas to Johnny and Annie Emma (King) Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence Jack (of 53 years) and sisters Johnnie Mae Coles and Lena Thomas. She is survived by her brother Willie Crutchfield of Sacremento, California, and her children Clifford Branch of Santa Rosa, California, Elaine Reed Davis of Pearland, Tx, Lawrence Jack (Colette) of Freemont, California, Cheryl Harrison (Carl) of Pearland, Tx. Grandchildren Brent Branch, Sohn Reed (Tia), Anthony Schuck, Corey Harrison (Erica), Chayla Harrison, Shane Reed, Lauren Pitcher (Will) and Jeremy Jack. Great grandchildren Brentey Branch, Rotnei Anderson, Courtni Branch, Coby Harrison, Markeith Blankenship and Zoe Reed. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. She was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. She served as a Greeter, member of the United Methodist Women, Jones area senior's organization and sang in the mass choir. She loved Sunday school and Discipleship classes. Hattie had strong Christian Values and an abiding faith. Her saying was "God's got a way and it is mighty sweet." Hattie was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in the Houston Independent School District. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Texas Southern University. Her husband Lawrence sent her to college and she was grateful to him for the many wonderful sacrifices he made for the family. Hattie had a 25 year career with HISD. She worked as a 1st grade teacher at Piney Point Elementary and a kindergarten teacher at Shearn Elementary schools. Hattie and Lawrence shared many wonderful vacations abroad and throughout the United States. Hattie was always supportive of her four children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their interest was her interest. Her retirement years were spent playing bridge, going to the Spa and enjoying the grandchildren and their activities. Visitation is Monday August 31, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 10:59 AM. Funeral services begin at 11:00 AM. Visitation and funeral services are located at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, 2504 Almeda Genoa (at 288) Houston, Tx. Officiant Rev. Kenneth Levingston. Interment Houston Memorial Gardens.
