Evelyn graduated from the MACK training school for Nurses in St. Catharines in 1959. As a lifelong learner, she subsequently acquired 4 more degrees.
She worked in the operating and emergency rooms at St. Catharines General Hospital from 1960 to 1972 and then began her teaching career at the MACK school of nursing in 1972 until 1997 when she transferred over to Niagara College until her retirement in 2002.
