Thomas James Clarke was born on, 8 November 1887 in Lacken South, Killala, Mayo, Ireland. On, 12 April 1911 in County Mayo, he married Norah Nealon and the following year (1912) they came to America. They had 5 children: Mary "Mamie" Lucille Clarke, Msgr. James Thomas Clarke of the Diocese of Scranton, Veronica "Verna" (Clarke) O'Donnell, Sister Mary Nora (Eileen) Clarke, IHM [Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary], and Norah "Noni" Jean (Clarke) McTierney.
