I rode with Mr. Thomas to Sunday School every Sunday morning when I was little. He always smelled good and he was very quiet. He had a black Ford Fairlane with a red interior. IT WAS SPOTLESS.

He was a friend of my grandpa's. And I was a friend of his granddaughter's. One Easter, we wore identical dresses to Sunday School. THE HORROR OF IT ALL......

EDEN - Fitzhugh "F.W.'' William Thomas, 97, of 247 Farrell St., Eden, died Tuesday morning at Morehead Nursing Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Overlook Cemetery.

A native of Floyd County, Va., he was a member of Spray Baptist Church. He was a past president, secretary and treasurer for Men's Bible Class, and was also a member of the Friends Club and the Golden Age Club of Eden. He was a retired blanket finisher for Fieldcrest Mills.

He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte McBride of Eden; brothers, Marvin L. Thomas, Wilson S. Thomas, both of Floyd, Va., J.M. Thomas of Eden; sisters, Mrs. Lake Scaggs of Florida, Mrs. Bessie Martin of Floyd, Va.; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
