John Victor "Jick" Higgins Jr., 33, of Peach Tree Drive, died October 6, 1996.

He was born June 4, 1963, in Rockville, Conn. He was a self-employed carpenter, and a former employee with Allied Colloids Inc.

John attended Christ the King Church and Norfolk Catholic Schools.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly R. Higgins of Norfolk; a daughter, Brittany of Norfolk; his parents, John and Gloria Higgins of Virginia Beach and most recently Suffolk; two brothers, Jeffrey, and his wife, Beth Higgins of Chesapeake, Kelly, and his wife, Donna Higgins of Virginia Beach; grandparents, John and Thelma Higgins of Miami, Cecile H. Stone of Virginia Beach. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ryan Marie, and grandfather, Ransome E. Stone.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Christ the King Church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations can be made to Norfolk Collegiate School for the John Victor Higgins Jr. Memorial Fund, 7336 Granby St., Norfolk, Va. 23505. Following the funeral, the family will be at the home of John's brother, Kelly Higgins, 5525 Homeward Drive, Virginia Beach. Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall Chapel, is in charge.
