SSGT Hoyt Woodrow Crump Sr. (aged 27) died on 13 September 13, 1946 in Haywood County, North Carolina.

Sgt. Crump was one of five occupants of a B-25 that crashed into Cold Mountain, 10 miles south of Waynesville, North Carolina en route from Self Ridge Field, Michigan to Tampa, Florida.

He was born on November 28, 1918 in Hartwell, Hart County, Georgia, a son of Perry Ostella Crump and Dessie Inez (Ayers) Crump.

He attend Martha Berry College, Mount Berry, Georgia and graduated in 1940.

Immediately after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and at the time of his death he held the rating of flight engineer.

He married Margaret Ann Dobbs on April 1, 1944 at Gordon Street Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

Survivors are his wife the former Miss Margaret Ann Dobbs and a son Hoyt Woodrow Crump Jr. both of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters Audrey Inez (Crump) McCall and Miss Jan Crump; four brothers Mack Newt Crump, James Alton. Crump, Jack Perry Crump and Wayne Eugene Crump; parents Mr. and Mrs. Perry Ostella Crump; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Neese Crump and Mr. and Mrs. Columbus Waymon Ayers of Hartwell, Georgia.
