The oldest member, Mrs. Cushing Allen, has been removed to the spiritual world. Mrs. A. was one of the original members when the Society was organized, Sept. 20, 1829, and has ever since continued diligent, faithful, and zealous in good works. She was a living example for us all. None among us was more interested in the external progress of the New Church in the world, and none more desirous to bring the truths of the Church into daily life. She left us as she had been living among us, full of Christian faith, devotion, and resignation to the will of our heavenly Father.
