Professional Race Car Drive. He was a Three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 in 1941, 1947, and 1948. He was portrayed as an Indianapolis 500 rival of Clark Gable's "Mike Brannan" character in the racing movie "To Please A Lady." Rose was also a talented automotive engineer. After appearing among the guests of honor at the 1980 Indianapolis 500, Rose died on New Year's Day of 1981. In 2007 Rose, who was Jewish, was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
