Charles Fred Kuehn, Jr. of Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed Friday, March 8, 2019 at home with loved ones. Charlie was born April 23, 1940 in Evansville, Indiana. His parents were Charles Fred Kuehn Sr and Ruth S (Schellhase) Kuehn. Charlie was united in marriage to Geniene (Hess) Kuehn on January 5, 1959.

Charlie worked for Yellow Freight System from 1959 to 1972. He then worked for Kuehn Construction from 1972 to 1978. He spent the rest of his working days at True Value Hardware, making people smile.

Charlie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Baxter Springs. He was a Boy Scout leader for over forty years, where he achieved the Silver Beaver Award for his service to scouting. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. Charlie was known for his sense of humor and orneriness, and always had a huge smile with a laugh that was recognizable to all. To know him was to love him.

Charlie is survived by his wife of sixty years, Geniene Kuehn, of the home; one daughter, Shannon (Kuehn) Perry, and husband Dave, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; three sons, Charles Kuehn III, and wife Pam, of Joplin, Missouri; Brian Kuehn, and wife Cheryl, of Joplin, Missouri; and Darrin Kuehn, and wife Terry, of Olathe, Kansas;; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Bob Kuehn, and wife Beverly; sister-in-law Charlene Hill Stapleton, and husband Chuck; brother-in-law, John Hess, and wife Shirley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be Rosary and visitation at 6:30 pm, Monday, March 11, at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, KS

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, at Derfelt’s Baxter Capel, Baxter Springs, KS. Burial will follow at Lowell Cemetery.
