Mary Lou Rose Kirkland, age 73, of Walhalla, SC formerly of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her home. She was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late John Harve and Lillie Van Graham Rose. Mary was a member of the Violet Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifford Rose, Hobart Rose, Beecher Rose, Wayne Rose, and Lloyd Rose; sisters, Gladys Taylor, Edna Bolt, Ellie Morrow, Mary Odessa and Mattie Morrow.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Delano Kirkland; one son, Michael Kirkland and wife, Kristina; one daughter, Paula Kirkland; two sisters, Ruby Morrow and Margaret Cunningham; grandchildren, Travis Kirkland and wife, Marianne and Josh Kirkland and wife, Tabby; one great grandaughter, Milah Kirkland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC. Rev. Jerry Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in the Bear Paw Baptist Church Cemetery.
