At grade school age her first health issue was battling meningitis. At age 23 she was diagnosed with lupus where the doctors gave her less than two weeks to live. Unfortunately, with the fear of her imminent death, her family began preparations for her funeral. Her father died from the disease a few years prior to being diagnosed herself. At the age of 28, she battled cervical cancer and won her life against the disease. She became a motivational speaker and sharing her talent of music with anyone who'd listen to her inspirational story and powerful voice. She was a contestant on The Voice in 2017.

She died from a blood clot that had moved to her heart. The singer was a cancer survivor who previously dealt with health issues including cervical cancer, lupus and meningitis.
