He was the son of Peter Evans Of Ashburton, Devon (1826 - 1905) and Jane Ferguson Sommerville of Edinburgh, Scotland (1840 - 1924).
William married Constance Ella Northup Ollerhead of Minehead, Somerset (1874 - 1938), The daughter of Dr Thomas James Ollerhead (1846-1925) of 'Hillbury', Martlett Road, Minehead.
They had four children:
1. Frew Ferguson Evans (1895 - 1917)
2. Allison Sparke Evans (1899 - 1979)
3. Molly Evans (1901 - 1986)
4. Amery Yeo Evans (1909 - 1941)
The family resided at 'Wyndcote' in Martlett Road, Minehead.
