Lettie F. Sloan, 96, of West Hebron, passed away peacefully Sunday night, November 14, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side. Born November 12, 1914 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Callahan) Fitz Gerald. Mrs. Sloan was educated on Long Island and was a homemaker. She had just celebrated her 96th birthday on Friday. Mrs. Sloan enjoyed sewing, painting and loved to read and spend time at the beach. She was a member of Holy Cross Church in Salem.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Edward J. Sloan who passed away January 6, 2005; a son-in-law, Pasquale Girard who passed away May 4, 2006; her sisters, Margaret Dillon and Mary Crosier.

Mrs. Sloan is survived by her daughters, Mary Shaw and her husband Carlyle of Salem and Jeanne Girard of Fort Ann, NY; a sister, Frances Sloan of Argyle. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Carol Liedes and her husband Jyrki of Andover, MA; a great grandson, Matthew Liedes; 5 step-granddaughters, Sheila Sharrow and Suzanne Graves of Fort Ann, Patty Brill and Nicole Girard, both of Saratoga, Teresa Girard of Glens Falls; a step-grandson, Pasquale Girard, Jr. of Fort Ann and 10 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem with Fr. Liam Condon officiating. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.
