Don Earl Grantham, MD, passed away in Newport News, Virginia on Thursday, January 31, 2019, two days after his 77th birthday.
In 1958, Don moved to Cross City with his parents, Ruby and Jesse Earl Grantham from Laurel, Mississippi, when Continental Turpentine & Rosin relocated to Shamrock, FL. His father was an accountant with Continental and Don later worked in the company lab. Don attended Dixie County High School where he was a member of the Beta and Science Clubs, a Senior Favorite, and graduated in the class of 1960. Don received a bachelor degree from Florida State University before attending the University of Florida School of Medicine where he obtained his Medical Degree. Dr. Grantham performed an internship and residency in Radiology at Riverside Hospital, Newport News, Virginia, where he served for 44 years until his death. Dr. Grantham was a radiologist with Peninsula Radiological Associates and Riverside Medical Center for 25 years. He was a member of the American Medical Association, Virginia Medical Society, and the American College of Radiology.
Dr. Grantham is survived by his wife Linda Bush Grantham, whom he had know since childhood and married in 1965 in the First Baptist Church of Sharon, MS. Linda, daughter of the late Kate and Ernest Bush of Sharon, MS, taught business courses at Dixie County High School while Don attended college.
