CALHOON, Ronald Paul Passed away January 22, 2019 from brain cancer in the hospice wing of the Spokane VA Medical Center. Ron was born in Warrensburg, MO, March 8, 1948. He was one of 9 siblings and the oldest of Paul and Juanita Calhoon's 3 children. At the age of 12, the family moved to Spokane. Ron graduated from North Central High School in 1967, held a certification in Computer Programming, and briefly attended Spokane Community College. Ron enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and was assigned to MP and Transportation Battalions. He was Honorably discharged in 1969 as a Specialist. Ron returned home to help care for his father and started working in the electrical and construction industries, as well as Spokane Public Works. He "retired" in 1986 to be a stay at home dad. In 1976, Ron met Cathy Labusohr née Breckenridge and they married the same year. As they were already Spokane residents, they decided to stay and raise a family. Together they had 3 children and were married for 42 years. He was a life member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was a devoted family man and will be extremely missed by us all. Ron is survived by his bride and best friend, Cathy Calhoon. Children: Melanie (Frank) Ugolini, Paul (Dani) Calhoon, Celeste (Chris) Lambert all of Spokane. Brothers: Gary Calhoon and Roger Calhoon of Spokane. In-laws: Leon and Virginia Breckenridge of Spokane Valley and Kent and Debe Breckenridge of Deer Lake. 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter along with numerous family members and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, 6 of his siblings, and his daughter, Alicia Dawn Main (1994). Private grave-side service was held January 28 at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home oversees the arrangements. "A Celebration of Life" will be held on February 2 at VFW Post 3386 in Airway Heights at 10:00 am. All who knew him are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association. http://www.abta.org
