John Michael Bazzell, 71, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Macclenny, Florida. He was the son of the late James William Bazzell, Sr. and Mary T. Bazzell.
From his birth in Jacksonville, FL, on July 21, 1947 to his passing, John Michael nourished everyone around him with love, faith, and music. The youngest of three siblings, John began piano lessons at age seven, and quickly discovered his love and gifts in music, starting with rock and roll bands in his teens.
At the age of 17 he was introduced to the love of his life, Linda; and they married a couple of years later on June 16, 1967. John and Linda eventually settled back in Jacksonville and John began to sing at the Hilltop Restaurant in Orange Park. He was a great part of the wonderful spirit of the Hilltop for many years.
John always used his God-given gifts in ministry, writing, mentoring, equipping and leading others in worship. For the last ten years he served as Worship Leader at the wonderful Fellowship Bible Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Middleburg. He spent many years visiting nursing homes and ministering there as well. His love for Jesus permeated his every encounter.
John Michael is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James William Bazzell, Jr. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 51 years, Linda Bazzell; beloved sister, Bonnie Mills; 4 nephews: Jeff, Ken and Todd Mills and Paul Bazzell; niece, Jeneene, and numerous other extended family members and many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Hilltop Restaurant in Orange Park on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at 3:00 p.m.
